We welcome inquiries from rabbis, both active and retired, interested in joining the AHR.
The AHR offers three categories of membership: full, affiliate and student.
Current Rabbis – Full Membership
If you are a rabbi, ordained by a reputable rabbinic school, and you have come to identify with Secular Humanistic Judaism as your primary rabbinic identity, you may be eligible for full membership. Full members are expected to comply with the Code of Ethics and to generally support the aims and goals of Secular Humanistic Judaism.
Current Rabbis – Affiliate Membership
If you are a rabbi, ordained by a reputable rabbinic school, and you generally support the aims and goals of Secular Humanistic Judaism, but are not yet prepared – or do not wish – to fully identify as a member of our movement, you may qualify for affiliate membership. We encourage such rabbis who generally support the ideas of Secular Humanistic Judaism to consider an affiliation alongside any existing membership in another rabbinic organization. An affiliate member can become a full member when he/she chooses Secular Humanistic Judaism as his/her primary identity.
Rabbinical Student Membership
Student membership is open to rabbinical students at the International Institute for Secular Humanistic Judaism (“Institute”) and other recognized rabbinical schools.
Admission to membership in the AHR is determined by the Executive Committee.
